Jeb Puryear
Jeb Puryear Old-time music was abnormally popular in Ithaca when Jeb was growing up so he was convinced if he learned to play the fiddle well enough, he'd be a rock star for sure...The string band he formed with his mates, Bubba George, was indeed worthy of the stature, but they were a bit ahead of their time...so he grabbed an electric guitar and kept on rockin'. He'll beat you at scrabble, chess, bocce, buray, and ping pong....and we hear a solo record may be in the works as well.

    Gear
I play Jim's Stratacaster through my brother Jordan's Fender Deluxe.
Tara Nevins
Tara Nevins To begin to understand Tara's passion for music, one must first look to the Old-time musical community where Tara has spent over 20 years playing the fiddle. We did the research once and headed on down to the Mt Airy fiddlers' convention where in awe we watched her play 27 hours of fiddle tunes in 3 days time as she casually caught up with some old friends. But these days her love of Zydeco is equally as influential. While evident in her accordian playing, she is also currently expressing her love of Louisiana culture by producing a documentary on the late Carlton Frank. Beyond her time with DTB, Tara spent almost 10 years playing with the all-female Cajun/Old-time band, The Heartbeats, and plans to continue releasing solo records for Sugar Hill.

    Gear:
My green accordion is a single row accordion and was made by Dick Richard, Lousiana - it's in the key of A.
My black accordion is also a single row accordion and was made by Randy Falcon, Lafayette, Lousiana - it's in the key of C.
My fiddle is an electric five string Aceto Violect made by Eric Aceto, Ithaca, NY.
I play on two accoustic guitars - a Martin and a Gallager.
The Frank Family brought my scrubboard with them from Lousiana one of the very first years of the Grassroots Festival.
Tom Gilbert
Tom Gilbert Arguably the only drummer who can hold the beat to "Conscious Evolution" while accurately telling you the migratory habits of the Chinook Salmon. Fortunately for DTB, he's currently exploring a theory that drumming four hours/night helps strengthen tiny muscles in the wrist, which in turn makes for a better fly fisherman. Polished his chops with the Academy and the New Dylans and when he's not touring can be found with his pups at the Dog Park. By the way, Evan, this gear list is for you...

    Gear:
What I've been playing on recently has been a 1967 Ludwig club date in orange sparkle with a 1965 slingerland 14x5 1/2 wooden snare drum. I also use a 14 inch yamaha maple custom circa mid 90's 14 inch floor tom. all with coated ambassadors and/or emperors on the toms (remo). I use a mix of zildjian, istanbul, and paiste.
Bill Reynolds
Bill Reynolds After successful stints with the Blue Rags and Drug Money, our beloved North Carolina native made the bold move northward to join us in upstate New York.
"How are the winters up there?" he inquired.

"Really not that bad," we assured him during his July visit to check things out.

Sorry 'bout that Bill. His addition may further explain our January/February month long southern tours. When not on tour Bill spends most of his time working his magic in the studio. He just finished up a project featuring the most talented nyc subway musicians and is currently working with Fisher Meehan, Menage, and the Avett Brothers. .

    Gear:
I use Aguilar bass amps, an epiphone bass (thunderbird) and fender coronado.

Kathy Ziegler
Kathy Ziegler She took her talents to Austin and NYC as an accomplished singer/songwriter before joining up with DTB....Despite a grueling schedule, she has managed to stay incredibly active in side projects and in '05 (beyond 100 DTB dates and record release), Kathy already has a solo record out, a European tour scheduled with Mary Lorson, and is in the studio with The Splendors.
    Gear:
I play a lowery through a fender twin...a clavinet which is also played through the twin. the clavinet is also played through a wah wah pedal. then i have a vk-7 which is a digital 'organ' or a digital version of the classic hammond sound. This is played through a leslie speaker. I will also soon be playing a roland digital piano.
